Things to Do on Beaver Island #1
WHISKEY POINT LIGHTHOUSE - is situated at the entrance to St. James Harbor. For decades the lighthouse was the only navigational aid for entering the harbor. Even with the advent of today's sophisticated navigational equipment, the lighthouse is well maintained and operational.
Located on the northern edge of St. James Harbor, Beaver Island Marine provides a full-service marina complete with Ship's Store, Bathhouse, Diesel, Gas, Ice, Picnic Area, Laundry Facilities, Full-Service Repair, Rental Vehicles, and Grocery Store across the way.
Full-service slips contain 30AMP/50AMP electric and water [cable TV and permanent telephone available]. Some slips without full service are available for basic dockage.
MILES OF PRISTINE BEACHES - surround the island. If your looking for paradise, look no further. It's easy to find your own secluded corner of the island.
BEAVER HEAD LIGHTHOUSE - Located at the southernmost point of the island, this is a spot not to be missed! A climb to the top of this tower provides a panoramic view that is well worth the effort. The lighthouse is open Spring through Fall.
THE PROTAR HOME (on the national register) - Built of hand-hewn logs, this cabin stands in a rural setting and looks as it did when famous "Doctor" Protar occupied it from 1893 until his death in 1925.
This 9-hole golf course is open to the public and is located due south of the Welke Airport.
